Lǐ Xiǎn 李顯 (656–710), posthumously titled Emperor Zhōngzōng 中宗 of Táng. Third son of Emperor Gāozōng 高宗 and Wǔ Zétiān 武則天; reigned briefly in 684 before being deposed by his mother, and again from 705 to 710 after the Shénlóng 神龍 coup that restored the Táng. During his second reign he patronized Buddhist translation projects, including 菩提流志 Bodhiruci’s Mahāratnakūṭa assemblage; his preface to that work, together with Ruìzōng’s, marks the Bodhiruci team’s status at the Chóngfúsì 崇福寺.
