Yú Rǔjí, not securely recorded, was a late-Míng shēngyuán of Sōngjiāng 松江 (modern Shànghǎi area). According to the front matter of the Lǐbù zhìgǎo 禮部志稿 (KR2l0010), he was recommended for the editorial commission by the Prefect of Sōngjiāng on instructions from the Regional Inspectors of the Sūsōng region; the Ministry of Rites’ summons and engagement of him into the editorial bureau is preserved in the front matter. The Sìkù editors and the Míng shǐ yìwén zhì identify him as the actual compiler of the Lǐbù zhìgǎo (alternately titled Lǐ yí zhì 禮儀志), even though the work circulated under Lín Yáoyú’s name as Minister of Rites. The zhìgǎo was completed in 1620. He has no recorded official career outside this commission. CBDB lists him with no firm dates.
