Ní Sī 倪思
Zì Zhèngfǔ 正甫; posthumous title Wénjié 文節. Native of Guī’ān 歸安 in Húzhōu 湖州 (modern Húzhōu, Zhèjiāng). Jìnshì of Qiándào 2 (1166) at age 19. Floruit Southern Sòng, second half of the twelfth century to the early thirteenth.
Career: served at successive court posts under Sòng Xiàozōng, Guāngzōng, and Níngzōng. Held Lǐbù shàngshū 禮部尚書, Lìbù shàngshū 吏部尚書, Bǎowéngé xuéshì 寶文閣學士. Briefly impeached and rusticated for his opposition to Hán Tuōzhòu’s 韓侂胄 Qìngyuán dǎngjìn 慶元黨禁 (the proscription of the Dàoxué party, 1196–1202); rehabilitated after Hán’s fall in 1207. Posthumous title Wénjié 文節, conferred under Lǐzōng.
Principal works: the BānMǎ yìtóng 班馬異同 (KR2a0008) — the first systematic comparative-textual study of the Shǐjì / Hànshū relationship; the Jīngchútáng zázhì 經鉏堂雜誌 (a bǐjì-style miscellany of philological and ethical reflections); a substantial corpus of memorials and fù preserved as the Wénjié jí 文節集.
