Yú Gāo 兪皋 (the catalog uses the graph 兪; the standard form is 俞 — the two are interchangeable graphic variants), zì Xīnyuǎn 心遠, native of Xīnān 新安 (Huīzhōu 徽州, modern Ānhuī). Yuán dynasty. Lifedates not preserved. He studied with his fellow-villager Zhào Liángjūn 趙良鈞, a jìnshì of the late Sòng who taught the Chūnqiū in the Xīnān region after refusing Yuán office, and inherited Zhào’s scholarly legacy. Wú Chéng 吳澄 (1249–1331) wrote the preface to Yú Gāo’s Chūnqiū jízhuàn shìyì dàchéng 春秋集傳釋義大成 KR1e0056, which dates the work to before Wú’s death in 1331. Wú’s preface is also the earliest source for the term sìzhuàn 四傳 — the fourth-commentary status of Hú Ānguó’s KR1e0036 Chūnqiū zhuàn alongside the canonical three. Yú’s only surviving work is the Jízhuàn shìyì dàchéng. CBDB has him listed as person 44224 with no biographical details.
