Southern-Sòng devout Daoist layman (fèngdào dìzǐ 奉道弟子), recipient of the planchette-revelation Tàishàng xiūzhēn tǐ yuán miàodào jīng 太上修真體元妙道經 (DZ 41) from the deity Yuánsù zhēnjūn 元素眞君 (canonically 北極雷嶽教主金闕化身元素眞君, a Shénxiāo / Thunder-rite lineage deity). He is known only from the colophon by Dǒng Zhèngguān dated Jǐngdìng 2 (1261), which records that Liú received the revelation but, uncertain of its proper handling, entrusted the original copy to members of the “Literary Chief and Reaching-Honoured” examination circle, where it was secreted away. After Liú’s death the family-preserved transcript came into Dǒng’s hands and was printed in 1261. No CBDB record exists. The colophon provides the sole biographical information: he was active in the mid-thirteenth century, was literate in the tiānshū cǎoshèng 天書草聖 cursive-writing of Daoist planchette-revelation, and maintained social connections reaching into the Southern-Sòng examination establishment.
