Liú Yán 劉炎 (Sòng), Zǐxuān 子宣, was a Southern Sòng Lǐxué commentator of Sōngyáng 松陽 (Zhèjiāng). His self-preface to the Ěr yán 邇言 (KR3a0055) is dated Jiātài jiǎzǐ 嘉泰甲子 (1204) — placing him in the immediate post-Qìngyuán dǎngjìn generation. He held no recorded official position. His major work is the Ěr yán in 12 zhāng, drawing on the Chéng-school tradition. CBDB has multiple homonyms named 劉炎; the Ěr yán author has no confidently identified id, with id 38005 (fl. 1200) the most chronologically plausible candidate.
