Career. Hànlín dàizhì 翰林待制 — Hànlín Reader-in-Waiting.

Principal contribution. Editor and compiler-supervisor of his teacher Yáo Suì’s Mùān jí KR4d0465. In Zhìshùn rénshēn (1332), Liú secured the Zhōngshū order transferring the compilation work to the Jiāngzhè provincial-school system, with funding from county shànxué (subsidized-school) surplus. The collation was carried out at the Hàngzhōu Rúxué tíjǔsī by Yè Jǐngxiū 葉景修 under the supervision of Wú Shàn 吳善 (the Jiāngzhè děngchù rúxué tíjǔ). The result was the canonical 50-juàn / 689-piece corpus that established Yáo Suì as the singular Yuán gǔwén master.

Also. Liú Zhì composed the niánpǔ (chronological biography) of Yáo Suì appended to the Mùān jí (1 juàn) — the principal contemporary biographical witness for Yáo Suì.
