Northern-Sòng / Southern-Sòng transitional official and -master (1086–1152), Bógōng 伯恭, hào Xiānglín jūshì 薌林居士, of Línjiāng 臨江 (Jiāngxī). Maternal-great-nephew of Empress Qīnshèng Xiànsù 欽聖憲肅 (the wife of Sòng Shénzōng); entered office on imperial grace in Yuánfú (early 1100s). Held a succession of magistracies and prefectures during Zhènghé and Xuānhé; led the famous defence of Tánzhōu 潭州 (modern Chángshā) against the Jīn invasion of Jiànyán 4 / 1130. Restored under Shàoxīng to Huīyóugé zhí xuéshì and Prefect of Píngjiāngfǔ; refused to serve under Qín Guì 秦檜 and retired in Shàoxīng 12 / 1142 to his Qīngjiāng 清江 estate at Wǔliǔfāng 五柳坊, which he named Xiānglín — whence his hào Xiānglín jūshì. Biography in Sòng shǐ 377. His sole literary work is the Jiǔbiān cí KR4j0025 in two juǎn, explicitly divided into the Jiāngběi jiù cí (pre-1127 lyrics) and Jiāngnán xīn cí (post-1127 lyrics) — one of the most articulate personal-collection responses to the SòngJīn rupture. Hú Yín 胡寅’s preface, written for Xiàng’s collection at Wǔyí, is a foundational document of Sòng -criticism (formulating the Huājiān → Liǔ Yǒng 柳永 → Sū Shì 蘇軾 genealogy of the háofàng line). Modern critical edition: Wáng Zhàopéng 王兆鵬, Xiàng Zǐyīn niánpǔ jiàozhèng (Sìchuān University, 1990s). His corpus in the Quán Sòng cí runs to around 174 pieces.
