Wú Hào 吳浩

Style name Yǎngzhāi 養齋. Native of Huátíng 華亭 (modern Sōngjiāng 松江, Shànghǎi). His preface to the Shí sān jīng yì yí 十三經義疑 (KR1g0023) — the only document of his life preserved in the Sìkù — gives no biographical detail beyond his native place and the fact that he had spent more than thirty years in classical study at his retreat (qiūyuán 丘園) in Huátíng. He was active in the Yōngzhèng / early-Qiánlóng era (c. 1730–1745).

His sole surviving work is the Shí sān jīng yì yí in 12 juàn, which the Sìkù compilers rate as one of the more conscientious early-Qing compendia of doubts on the Thirteen Classics: not perfectly comprehensive, but methodologically careful in citation, with the strength of working systematically through the zhùshū tradition. The work is part of the broader trend of Yōngzhèng-era classical compendia produced by scholars unaffiliated with the Bóxué hóngcí circle and not employed in the imperial editorial projects.
