呂光

Lǚ Guāng 呂光 (zì Shìmíng 世明, 338–399), Dī 氐 general of the Former Qín 前秦 and founder of the Hòu-Liáng 後涼 (386–403). Dispatched westward by Fú Jiān 苻堅 in 383 to subdue the Western Regions, he captured the kingdom of Kucha 龜茲 in 384 and seized the young 鳩摩羅什 Jiūmóluóshí, holding him in Liángzhōu 涼州 for some sixteen years; he proclaimed himself King of Liáng in 386 after the collapse of the Former Qín. The closing colophon of the Chēngyáng zhū fó gōngdé jīng 稱揚諸佛功德經 (KR6i0010) places its Tokharian-Chinese translation at Kucha in Línjiā 麟嘉 6 (394) of his regnal era.
