Lǚ Nángōng 呂南公 (fl. Xīníng–early Yuányòu, c. 1072–1086), zì Cìrú 次儒, hào Guànyuán xiānshēng 灌園先生, of Nánchéng 南城 (Jiāngxī Fǔzhōu). Sòng shǐ j. 444 (Wényuán) has his biography. Read widely; refused to bend his prose to the Xīnfǎ / Wáng Ānshí curricular orthodoxy; failed his single try at the jìnshì examination; built a hermitage and “watered the garden” (guànyuán) without further career attempts. Yuányòu 1 (1086): Zēng Zhào 曾肇 Zhōngshū shèrén recommended him for the shíkē (ten-categories recommendation) as exemplary of bù shì sú xué, ān pín shǒu dào — but Lǚ died before the appointment could be made. Wished to compose a Sānguó zhì-revision under the studio-name Gǔnfǔ 衮斧 (“Brocade-and-Axe”, from Confucian Chūnqiū tradition); died before completion. Author of Guànyuán jí 灌園集 KR4d0121 originally in 30 juǎn compiled by his son Lǚ Yù 呂郁; Sìkù reconstruction is 20 juǎn. Lifedates not securely established.
