Zhōu Lǐ 周禮 (Míng, fl. late 15th c.). Author of the Fāmíng 發明 (elucidations) appended to Shāng Lù’s KR2o0022 Xù Zīzhì tōngjiàn gāngmù 續資治通鑑綱目. Native place and biographical details not preserved; he was associated with the Chénghuà-Hóngzhì WùZhē Gāngmù-school circle around Shāng Lù. CBDB has no datable record (the homonym CBDB ids 103929, 122686, 148823 etc. are all undated separate persons of the same name; none can be confidently identified with this commentator). The Sìkù tiyao on the Xù biān is highly critical of the Fāmíng’s “absurdities are too many to list,” and the work has not been independently scholarly received.
The name 周禮 is also the title of the classic KR1d0001 Zhōulǐ (Rites of Zhōu); references to “周禮” as a person should be carefully distinguished from the canonical work.
