Zhōu Zhèn 周震 (hào Shènzhāi 慎齋, fl. late Míng / early Qīng, mid-17th century), paediatrician active in the Shùnzhì — Kāngxī transitional era. His principal work Yòukē zhǐnán 幼科指南 (KR3ej016, also known as Yòukē yīxué zhǐnán 幼科醫學指南) is conventionally dated to Shùnzhì 18 (1661) or Kāngxī 18 (1679); it was first printed in 1789 (Qiánlóng 54) by the Yíxīng Dàoshēngtáng 宜興道生堂 publishing house. The work consists of four juǎn covering paediatric verse mnemonics, miscellaneous disorders, and the five zàng-meridian paediatric disorders. Zhōu’s Hǔkǒu màiwén gē 虎口脈紋歌 (Verses on the Tiger’s-mouth Pulse-Pattern) is a notable supplement to the conventional sānguān zhǐwén 三關指紋 finger-vein diagnostic doctrine. His clinical writing is conventionally praised for balance and píngzhèng 平正 (moderation) in prescription. Lifedates and native place are not securely recorded.
