Xǐ 喜 (Yúné Xǐ 雲峨喜)

Mid-seventeenth-century LínjìYángqí Chán master of Sichuan origin, 32nd-generation Línjì in the Mìyún line. Fǎhuì 法諱 喜 (single-character, as with other 行-generation irregulars), hào Yúné 雲峨 (“Cloud-Tall”). A Sichuan-born master dispatched on the northern-expansion Chán mission of the 1650s, holding seven successive abbacies across Ānhuī, Hénán, Húběi, and Shǎnxī in the period 1650–c. 1663. Double-transmission: first trained under Pòshān Hǎimíng 破山海明 (1597–1666, Sichuan-base, cf. KR6q0402) and then formally sealed by Línyě Tōngqí 通奇 林野通奇 (1595/6–1652, cf. KR6q0408) at Tiāntóng during Línyě’s 1650–52 abbacy. Yúné appears as one of the 18 named Tiān-tóng-period dharma-heirs of Línyě in the Mùchén Dàomǐn tǎmíng at KR6q0408 juan 8.

Seven abbacies (1650–c. 1663). (1) Huòqiū Dàbiéshān Pǔjì Chánsì 霍丘大別山普濟禪寺 — first abbacy, entered Shùnzhì 7 庚寅 10.8 = 2 November 1650. (2) Rǔníng Guāngshānxiàn Pǔfú Chányuàn 汝寧光山縣普福禪院. (3) Luóshān Guóxiángshān Lóngchí Chánsì 羅山國祥山龍池禪寺 (a symbolic-lineage name after Lóngchí of Huànyǒu Zhèngchuán 幻有正傳, Mi-yun’s teacher). (4) Húguǎng Suízhōu Luòhuáng Fǎxìngsì 湖廣隨州落黃法興寺. (5) Hénánfǔ Rǔzhōu Fēngxué Chánsì 河南府汝州風穴禪寺 — the ancestral seat of Fēngxué Yánzhào 風穴延沼 (896–973), classical Línjì-revival site. (6) Shǎnxī Chángān Dàxīngshànsì 陝西長安大興善寺 — the Táng imperial sūtra-translation center, among the most prestigious ancient Buddhist institutional sites. (7) Re-zhù Fēngxué 再住風穴 — second tenure at Fēngxué.

Historical significance. Yúné’s northern-mission, parallel to Běnshēng Tiānàn 天岸本昇 (at KR6q0409, Shāndōng Qīngzhōu under Mùchén patronage), represents the Pòshān / Línyě dual-patronage wing of the Mìyún-line post-1644 northern-expansion program. The sequential holding of three prestige-seats (Lóngchí, Fēngxué, Dàxīngshàn) constructs a deliberate lineage-claim to ancient Línjì and imperial-Buddhist institutional heritage.
