Xià Yuánjí 夏原吉 (1366–1430), zì Wéizhé 維喆, posthumous title Zhōngjìng 忠靖. Native of Xiāngyīn 湘陰 (Yuèzhōu, Húnán). By xiāngjiàn recommended to the Tàixué (Imperial Academy); selected and appointed Hùbù zhǔshì 戶部主事; rose to Hùbù shàngshū 戶部尚書. Principal architect of the early-Míng (Yǒnglè / Hóngxī / Xuāndé) fiscal-and-water-conservancy system; reformed the TàiHú 太湖 watershed and the Sōngjiāng drainage works in Yǒnglè 1–3 (1403–05). Tutor to the future Xuānzōng 宣宗 as Imperial Grandson; jointly jiānxiū on the shílù of three reigns. Míng shǐ j. 149. Surviving works are KR4e0093 Zhōngjìng jí.
