Modern Japanese Buddhist studies scholar (大内 文雄), specialist in apocryphal Chinese Buddhist texts (yíwěijīng 疑偽經) and Dūnhuáng manuscripts. Co-edited (with 齊藤隆信 Saitō Takanobu) the critical text of the Jìngdù sānmèi jīng 淨度三昧經 KR6v0076 for Zàngwài fójiào wénxiàn vol. 7, drawing on the Nanatsu-dera 七寺 manuscript canon of Nagoya (which preserves the only complete witness of the three-fascicle recension of this otherwise canon-rejected sūtra).
