Sūn Qíféng 孫奇逢 (1584–1675), zì Qǐtài 啟泰, hào Zhōngyuán 鍾元 / Xiàfēng 夏峯, was one of the “Three Great Confucians of the Early Qīng” (along with Huáng Zōngxī 黃宗羲 and Lǐ Yóng 李顒), a Míng loyalist who refused Qīng office. Born in Róngchéng 容城 (Bǎodìng 保定, modern Héběi 河北), he passed the provincial examination in Wànlì gēngzǐ 萬曆庚子 = 1600 but did not advance further. Under the Míng he was active in Dōnglín-affiliated political circles. After the dynastic transition he refused Qīng appointments and moved to Mount Sūmén 蘇門 in Hénán, where he gathered pupils and taught for the rest of his life.

His scholarship combines LùWáng 陸王 mind-learning with selective elements of ChéngZhū Lǐxué. His major works include the Lǐxué zōng zhuàn 理學宗傳 (a comprehensive history of SòngMíng Lǐxué, with Gāo Pānlóng 高攀龍 高攀龍), the Sìshū jìn zhǐ 四書近指, and the Dú Yì dà zhǐ 讀易大旨 (KR1a0119). He was also the editor of the Sūn Xiàfēng yǔ lù 孫夏峯語錄 (compiled by his pupils).

The Dú Yì dà zhǐ was written at Mount Sūmén in his late life, drawing on his earlier studies under Lǐ Bēng 李崶 of Xióngxiàn 雄縣.
