Shǒuzhōng 守忠
Yuán Yángqí-branch Línjì Chán master, zì Tánfāng 曇芳. Native of Dūchāng 都昌 (Nánkāng, Jiāngxī), lay surname Huáng 黃; born on the 1st of the 10th month of Zhìyuán 12 (28 October 1275), died at Dàlóngxiáng Jíqìngsì on the 28th of the 10th month of Zhìzhèng 8 (27 November 1348), shìshòu 74, sēnglà 56. Tonsured at eleven under 德珍 Yùshān Dézhēn at Yúnjūshān 雲居山, and a dharma-heir of the same; thus, via Dézhēn, dharma-grandson of Xūzhōu Pǔdù 虛舟普度 (KR6q0340). Trained also, in his wandering years, under Tiěshān Qióng 鐵山瓊, Měngshān Yì 蒙山異 at Xiūxiūān 休休菴, 淨伏 Hǔyán Jìngfú at Jìngshān (as 綱維 for a year), Dōngyán Rì 東巖日 at Āyùwáng, and Yěwēng Tóng 野翁同 at Xuědòu; attained awakening under Dézhēn at Língyǐn on the 庭前柏樹子 huàtóu and received formal yìnkě.
He held five major abbacies — Jiànkāng Chóngyīn chánsì 崇因禪寺 (from Dàdé 9 / 1305, fifteen years), Jiǎngshān Tàipíng Xīngguó 蔣山太平興國 (from Zhìzhì 1 / 1321), the newly-founded Jiǎngshān Dàchóngxǐ Wànshòu 大崇禧萬壽寺 (established in Tàidìng 3 / 1326 on his recommendation, after a visit by the future Wénzōng 文宗 to the Bǎozhū peak 寶珠峰), Jìngshān Xīngshèng Wànshòu 徑山興聖萬壽 (from Zhìzhèng 2 / 1342, as the 49th abbot), and finally Dàlóngxiáng Jíqìngsì 大龍翔集慶寺 (from Zhìzhèng 5 / 1345). The five-abbacy span gave his yǔlù its alternate title Wǔhuì lù 五會錄 (KR6q0343). His imperial titles accumulated in parallel: Fóhǎi Pǔyìn dàchánshī 佛海普印大禪師 (1328, from Wénzōng on accession), Dàzhōng dàfū Guǎngcí Yuánwù dàchánshī 大中大夫廣慈圓悟大禪師 (1329), a gold-brocade jiāshā at the Dàmíngdiàn in 1331, and continuing patronage from Shùndì and the Báiyán 伯顏 / Tuōtuō 脫脫 governments into the Zhìzhèng era.
Per the tǎmíng of Ōuyáng Xuán 歐陽玄 (Zhìzhèng 9 / 1349), his named dharma-heirs include 繼祖 Jìzǔ of Chángzhōu Shànquán, Lánjiāng Qīngchǔ 蘭江清濋 (DILA A020031), Shòuyán Chūn 壽巖椿, Xīyuán Dá 西源達 (DILA A009716), Yuánzōng Xìng 圓宗性, and Xīyǐn Zǔ 西隱祖.
