Gokei Sōton 悟溪宗頓 (Ōei 23 → 1416; Meiō 9 / 1500-12-13), Mid-Muromachi Japanese Rinzai-Zen master, one of the four principal dharma-heirs (the Shihatsu 四派 “Four Branches”) of 宗深 Sekkō Sōshin (1408–1486) and founder (派祖) of the Reiun-ha 靈雲派 sub-lineage of Myōshin-ji 妙心寺. Style-name (字) Gokei 悟溪; dharma-name Sōton 宗頓. Posthumous title Daikō Shinshū Zenji 大興心宗禪師, conferred by Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado 後土御門天皇 in Meiō 6 / 5 / 24 (1497-06-23 NS, three years before Sōton’s death — the original imperial chokujo 勅書 is preserved in his recorded sayings). Native of Mino 美濃 province (lay surname Fujiwara?).

Tonsured under Sekkō at Heibai-in 衡梅院; founder (開山) of Zuiryū-ji 瑞龍寺 at Mount Kinpō-zan 金寳山 in Mino 濃阜, established with imperial-court patronage as a Jissetsu 十刹 affiliate of Daitoku-ji (the junjissatsu 準十刹 designation given in Bunmei 2 / 1470). Successively abbot of Daitoku-ji 大徳寺, Myōshin-ji 妙心寺, and Zuisen-ji 瑞泉寺 in Owari. After his death his pagoda became the centre of the Reiun-in 靈雲院 sub-cloister of Myōshin-ji, which gave the sub-lineage its name. He is recorded as having played a key role in the reconstruction of Myōshin-ji’s Heibai-in cell-block after the Ōnin destruction (Meiō 7 / 1498). The Reiun-ha line is one of the present-day major sub-lineages of Myōshin-ji Rinzai.
