Jī Hán 嵇含 (263–306), zì Jūndào 君道, native of Zhì 銍 in the kingdom of Qiáo 譙國 (modern north-west Ānhuī). Grand-nephew of the Zhúlín qī xián poet Jī Kāng 嵇康. Active in the political turmoil of the latter Western Jìn (the Eight Princes’ Revolt). He attached himself to Liú Hóng 劉弘, governor of Jīngzhōu, and was named Bold-Defending General (zhènwēi jiāngjūn) and Grand Warden of Xiāngyáng (Xiāngyáng tàishǒu); shortly before his death he was further appointed Grand Warden of Guǎngzhōu (per the Suízhì) but was assassinated by a rival officer before he could take up the post. Author of the Nánfāng cǎomù zhuàng 南方草木狀 (KR2k0104), the earliest extant Chinese flora of Lǐngnán and Southeast Asia, conventionally dated 304 — though the authenticity of the received recension was challenged by Mǎ Tàilái 馬泰來 (1978) and defended by Lǐ Huìlín 李惠林 (1979). Biography in Jìnshū 89 (appended to the biography of his cousin Jī Shào 嵇紹). His literary collection (originally 10 juan) is lost.
