Guǎngxī 廣熙

Mid-seventeenth-century Cáodòng Chán attendant-recorder (shìzhě jìlù 侍者記錄). Close personal attendant of Dàxiū Zhū 大休珠 (1615–1656) during the master’s final Cáoxī Nánhuásì 曹溪南華寺 abbacy (1654–56) and the principal recorder-of-record for KR6q0413 《大休珠禪師語錄》 (Jiāxīng Canon J27 B192).

The generation-character 廣 does not match the standard Zhàn-rán-line Cáodòng conventions (寂 / 淨) used by Dàxiū’s direct dharma-brothers and predecessors — suggesting Guǎngxī was either (a) an attendant-recorder from a parallel or junior lineage serving Dàxiū without being a formal dharma-heir, or (b) a participant in a local Guǎngdōng naming-convention adopted at Nánhuásì. The juan-head signature line consistently reads “shìzhě Guǎngxī lù 侍者廣熙錄” across multiple abbacy-specific juan, confirming he followed Dàxiū across at least the Nánhuá and other late abbacies.

Native place, lay surname, and lifedates unrecovered. No independent works survive under his name.
