Northern-Sòng official and zhìguài compiler, zì Bùyí 不疑, of Xiāngguó 襄國 (modern Xíngzhōu 邢州 / Xíngtái 邢台, Héběi) — whence he is conventionally referred to in colophons as Xiāngguó Zhāngmǒu. Active under Rénzōng and Shénzōng; held a series of lángzhōng / yuánwàiláng postings in the northern provinces (Héběi and Shǎnxī especially), never advancing into the senior ranks. Cháo Gōngwǔ’s Jùnzhāi dúshū zhì says he had served as Cìshǐ of several prefectures and “having repeatedly been an official without advancement, he turned his frustration into xiǎoshuō” (累任不遷以發其鬱悒). Author of KR3l0117 Kuòyì zhì 括異志 in 10 juǎn (completed in Xīníng / Yuánfēng, c. 1078–1085); also conventionally credited with the Juànyóu zálù 倦遊雜錄 (or Juànyóu lù) — a similar bǐjì collection mostly preserved in Tàipíng guǎngjì and Lèishuō quotations — and with the now-lost Yìshuō 譯說 (or Bǔ Zhōngtán 補倩談). His lifedates are not known; CBDB id 47206 is used as the conventional anchor (there is a homonym at 47207). The pseudonym Xīn Sǒu 心叟, sometimes attached to Juànyóu zálù, has been disputed in modern scholarship; the Juànyóu attribution is increasingly accepted as Zhāng’s.
