Zhāng Bǐngchéng 張秉成 (fl. late 19th c.), zì Zhàojiā 兆嘉. Late-Qīng physician of Wǔjìn 武進 (Chángzhōu) — younger contemporary of the Mènghé masters. His principal works are the 三便讀 (“three for easy reading”) trio: Chéngfāng biàn dú 成方便讀 (1904) on classical formulae, Bìnyè biàn dú 病案便讀 (case studies), and Běncǎo biàn dú 本草便讀 (KR3ec068, printed 1887) on substances. The Biàn dú (“easy reading”) series is one of the principal late-Qīng pedagogical pharmacology / formulary projects: each work uses parallel rhymed prose (effectively jué 訣 mnemonic verse) to make the standard doctrine accessible to apprentice physicians.
