Zhāng Qiāndé 張謙德 (1577–1643), better known as Zhāng Chǒu 張丑 (the name he adopted in adulthood); zì Shūyì 叔益 and Qīngfǔ 青父, hào Mǐān 米庵. Native of Kūnshān 崑山, Jiāngsū. Eldest son of 張應文 (Zhāng Yìngwén). One of the most important late-Míng connoisseurs of calligraphy and painting. His principal works include the Qīng hé shū huà fǎng 清河書畫舫 (a treatise organized as a calligraphy-and-painting boat-cruise) in 12 juàn, the Zhēnjì rìlù 真迹日錄 (Day-by-Day Record of Authentic Traces) in 6 juàn, the Mǐān jiànshǎng tán 米庵鑒賞談, the Nányáng mínghuà biǎo 南陽名畫表, and the Qīng hé shū huà biǎo 清河書畫表 (a tabular catalog of family holdings). Father and son together produced the Qīng mì cáng 清祕藏 (KR3j0173) — the father composed, the son polished. Zhāng Chǒu’s works are foundational for late-Míng / early-Qīng connoisseurship: the Qīng hé shū huà fǎng established the genre of the literati-connoisseurship narrative.
