Tang-period translator-monk; transliteration Mí-tuó-shān = Sanskrit Mitraśānta (also semantic rendering Jì-yǒu 寂友, “Friend-of-Quiescence”). Native of Tukhāra (覩貨羅國 / Tokharistan, present-day northern Afghanistan). Came to Tang China during the reign of Wǔ Zé-tiān and joined the translation establishment.
His two principal recorded translations are: collaboration with Śikṣānanda 實叉難陀 on the Dà-chéng rù lèngqié jīng 大乘入楞伽經 (T672, the seven-fascicle late-recension Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra); and during the Tiān-shòu era (690–692) the present Wú-gòu jìng-guāng dà-tuóluóní jīng KR6j0218 (T1024, the Raśmivimalaviśuddhaprabhā-dhāraṇī) co-translated with Fǎ-zàng 法藏 (643–712) and others. He also produced the Fó jí-xiáng-dé zàn 佛吉祥德讚 (T1681). Lifedates not preserved. Returned to Tukhāra after the translation work was completed.
