Xú Zhuō 徐倬 (1623–1712, Fānghǔ 方虎, hào Píncūn 蘋村), of Déqīng 德清 (Húzhōu prefecture, Zhèjiāng). Jìnshì of Kāngxī 12 (1673), aged 51 — an unusually late entry into the examination system. Held a series of Hànlín posts and rose to shìdú (Imperial Reader); was the principal selector-compiler of the Yùdìng Quán Táng shī lù 御定全唐詩錄 KR4h0161 — a 100-juǎn selective Táng-poetry anthology presented to the Kāngxī emperor in Kāngxī 45 (1706) when Xú was 83 years old. The Kāngxī preface explicitly praises Xú’s màonián hàoxué (great age, fond of study) and rewarded him with promotion to Lǐbù shìláng (Vice-Minister of Rites) — “as encouragement to scholars of the empire.” Died in Kāngxī 51 (1712) at age 89.
