Xú Yǒuzhēn 徐有貞 (1407–1472), original name Chéng 珵, Yuányù 元玉, hào Wǔgōng 武功 (from his earldom). Native of Wúxiàn 吳縣 (Sūzhōu, Jiāngsū). Xuāndé guǐchǒu (1433) jìnshì; eventually Bīngbù shàngshū jointly Huágàidiàn dàxuéshì; enfeoffed Wǔgōngbó 武功伯 (Earl of Wǔgōng). The principal author of the Duómén zhī biàn 奪門之變 (Gate-Seizing Coup) of Jǐngtài 8 (1457) — with Shí Hēng 石亨 — which returned Yīngzōng to the throne and inaugurated the Tiānshùn era. Post-coup hùquán zhídǎng wēifú zìzhuān (clung to power, planted his faction, used authority on his own); thrown into prison and banished to garrison Jīnchǐ 金齒 (Yúnnán); released and returned home, eventually died. Grandfather-in-law of Zhù Yǔnmíng 祝允明 (great Hóng-zhì-Zhèng-dé-era Wúzhōng literatus); Zhù’s Sūtán 蘇談 family-defends Xú. Surviving works are KR4e0105 Wǔgōng jí.
