Xú Jīngsūn, Zhònglì 仲立 (originally named Zǐróu 子柔), hào Jǔshān 矩山, was a native of Fēngchéng 豐城 in Hóngzhōu 洪州 (Jiāngxī). Bǎoqìng 2 (1226) jìnshì; rose through the offices of registrar of Liúyáng, Vice Director of the Ministry of Punishments, Director of the Heir-Apparent’s Affairs, and Hànlín academician zhī zhìgào 知制誥. Made his name as a tough and outspoken censor, attacking favourites and ministers — Xióng Pénglái 熊朋來’s tomb-inscription remembers him as “in the Censorate he did not fear those in power, in the Hànlín he did not fear the imperial favourites.” Crossed Jiǎ Sìdào 賈似道 in his last years and was dismissed; lived another ten years in retirement and was given the canonized name Wénhuì 文惠. The catalog meta gives 1192–1237 but this is a transcription error: CBDB (id 27784), the Sòng shǐ career chronology, and the Sìkù tíyào all imply 1192–1273, which is followed here. His sole surviving work is the five-juan Jǔshān cúngǎo 矩山存稿 KR4d0343, salvaged by the Sìkù editors and consisting mostly of court memorials and impeachment papers.
