Chègāng 徹綱
Mid-Qīng LínjìYángqí Chán monk, dharma-heir of Zhàngxuě Tōngzuì 丈雪通醉 (1610–1695) in the Pòshān Hǎimíng 破山海明 sub-line of the Mìyún Yuánwù 密雲圓悟 tradition. Head compiler (děng biān 等編) of KR6q0415 《昭覺丈雪醉禪師語錄》 (Jiāxīng Canon J27 B194, cut c. mid-to-late 1660s with 1657 Zuìlǐ front-prefaces and post-1663 Zhāojué content).
The generation-character 徹 (instead of the expected 行 or 本 of the standard Mìyún-line 33rd-generation conventions) suggests a Pò-shān-line Sichuan regional naming-convention, possibly influenced by the Wǔdēng quánshū’s alternative generation-poems for the 32-generation sequence. Other named dharma-heirs of Tōngzuì (Yuèchuáng Cèméi 月幢策眉, for example) likewise use generation-characters outside the standard LínjìMìyún sequence, consistent with the Pòshān line’s regional-autonomy in naming practice.
Native place, lay surname, and precise lifedates unrecovered.
Independent work. KR6q0508 《佛冤禪師語錄》 12 juan, Jiāxīng Canon J37 B371 — Chègāng’s own yǔlù under the hào Fóyuān 佛冤 (“Buddha-Wronged”), compiled by fǎsì Xìngchún 性純 děng biān.
