Xī’ān 息菴 (Jp. Sokuan) was the late-seventeenth-century Jōdo-shū 浄土宗 master at the Kakai-in 華開院 in Kyoto under whom 湛慧 Tan’e (1676–1747) was ordained at age 14. He is known principally from Tan’e’s biographical record; no independent works are preserved.
