Huáishēn 懷深

Late-Northern-Sòng / early-Southern-Sòng Yúnménzōng 雲門宗 Chán master, Císhòu 慈受, hào Pǔzhào 普照. Dharma-heir of Jìngzhào Chóngxìn 淨照崇信. Native of Liùān 六安 (Shòuchūn), lay surname Xià 夏. 1077 – 14 May 1132 (lunar 紹興 2.4.20), shìshòu 56, sēnglà 36. For a short tenure abbot of the imperial-court Huìlín chányuàn 慧林禪院 in the Sòng capital, in successor-line to 宗本 Yuánzhào Zōngběn.

Six abbacies (per Hán Jū’s 1133 preface, sān fèng tiānzǐ zhī mìng 三奉天子之命 “three-times receiving imperial command”): Yízhēn Zīfú 資福 (from Zhènghé era c. 1111), Jiāoshānsì 焦山寺 (by imperial edict, four years), Dōngjīng Huìlín 慧林, Língyán 靈巖, Jiǎngshān 蔣山 (briefly, by imperial edict), Dòngtíng Bāoshān 洞庭包山 (retreat), and finally Yuánjuésì 圓覺寺 as inaugural abbot. Died in 1132.

His four-juan guǎnglù 廣錄 (KR6q0381; X73 n1451) was compiled by four of his shìzhě善清, 善隨, 宗先, 普紹 (a named dharma-heir). Seven named dharma-heirs total per Jiātài pǔdēnglù juan 9, led by Jìshì Huìguāng 寂室慧光 and Chuící Pǔshào 垂慈普紹.
