Wéndēng 文僜

Style name Jìngxiū 淨修. Chán master of the tenth century, abbot of Zhāoqìngyuàn 招慶院 in Quánzhōu 泉州 (Fújiàn) under the Mǐn 閩 kingdom and subsequently the Southern Táng 南唐. Dharma heir in the Qīngyuán 青原 line (Xuěfēng 雪峰 — Xuānshā 玄沙 — Zhāoqìng branch); student of Bǎofú Cóngzhǎn 保福從展 (d. 928).

Supervised the compilation of the Zǔtáng jí 祖堂集 (KR6q0002) by his disciples (Jìng) and (Yún), completed in 952. The Zǔtáng jí’s own prefatory material identifies Wéndēng as the abbot whose patronage and Dharma teaching gave rise to the work.
