Mid-Míng literatus and educational official; founder of the Wén-family literary lineage at Chángzhōu 長洲 (Sūzhōu, Jiāngsū). Zì Gōngdà 功大. CBDB id 34670. Jǔrén (provincial-degree, not full jìnshì) of Chénghuà yǐyǒu (1465). Served as Láishuǐ jiàoyù (Láishuǐ district school-instructor).
He is the grandfather of the famous painter 文徵明 Wén Zhēngmíng (1470–1559); through Wén Zhēngmíng, ancestor of the late-Míng painter-official Wén Péng 文彭, Wén Jiā 文嘉, and Wén Zhàozhǐ 文肇祉. The four-generation Wén-family collection KR4h0112 Wénshì wǔ jiā jí (14 juǎn) opens with Wén Hóng’s Kuònáng gǎo 括囊稿 (1 juǎn verse + 1 juǎn prose). The Jìngzhìjū shīhuà praises his lines for their tiándàn (tranquil-and-calm) quality.
