Fāng Xián 方賢 (fl. late 15th c., Tiānshùn / Chénghuà era). Of Hèjiān 河間 (modern Hèjiānshì, Héběi). Ming court physician. Held the office of Tàiyī yuàn shǐ 太醫院使 (Director of the Imperial Medical Academy) under the Chénghuà and / or Hóngzhì reigns. Successor to 董宿 (Dǒng Sù) at the Tàiyī yuàn; completed and edited Dǒng’s posthumous manuscript of the Qíxiào liángfāng 奇效良方 (KR3ed038) for publication. The work’s standard print probably dates to the Chénghuà gēngyín (1470, with the surviving preface’s date corrupted in transmission to Shàodìng gēngyín 1230, a non-Ming reign-period). Fāng Xián has no separate biographical record in Míng shǐ; not in CBDB.
