Cáo Yúbiàn 曹于汴 (1558–1634), zì Zìliáng 自梁 / Zhēnyǔ 真予 (also written 貞予), of Ānyì 安邑 (Shānxī), was a late-Míng Dōnglín affiliate and senior yánguān (remonstrance-official). He took the jìnshì in Wànlì jǐchǒu 萬曆己丑 = 1589 and reached Zuǒ dū yùshǐ 左都御史 (Left Censor-in-Chief). He was a close associate of Gāo Pānlóng 高攀龍 (cf. KR4e0225) and Féng Cóngwú 馮從吾 (cf. KR4e0226) — the prefaces to his Yǎngjiétáng jí (KR4e0228) are by both. He was bàguān (dismissed) under Wèi Zhōngxián (1626) and rehabilitated after Wèi’s fall. His scholarly profile combines the Chángān Lǐxué of Xuē Xuān 薛瑄 tradition (Shānxī origin) with the Dōnglín program; his prose, in his contemporaries’ words, is zài lǐxué jǔyè zhī jiān (between Lǐxué and examination-essay). His main biography is in Míng shǐ j. 254. CBDB 34746.
