Northern-Sòng statesman, zì Zǐxuān 子宣, younger brother of the historian Zēng Gǒng 曾鞏. Jìnshì of 1057. A major figure of the Xīnfǎ 新法 (New Policies) reformist faction, rising to Shàngshū yòupúyè 尚書右僕射 (Vice Director of the Department of State Affairs) under Huīzōng. Reproved in Jiànzhōng jìngguó 1 (1101) by 陳瓘 Chén Guàn in a memorial that begins the latter’s lifelong campaign against 蔡京 Cài Jīng’s consolidation of the reformist programme.
