Běnruì 本瑞 (Tiānqí Běnruì 天奇本瑞)
Mid-Míng LínjìYángqí Chán master. Hào Tiānqí 天奇 (var. 天琦), Qióngjué lǎorén 焭絕老人 / 煢絕老人 (“Solitary-Cut-Off Old-Man”). Twenty-sixth-generation Línjì-orthodox patriarch at Jīnlíng 金陵 (Nánjīng). Birth-year unrecorded; died Ming Wǔzōng Zhèngdé 戊辰 = Zhèngdé 3 = 1508 (first lunar month), per Zōng tǒng biān nián 宗統編年 juan 29.
Surviving Kanripo-canonical contribution: the Qióngjué lǎorén Tiānqí zhí zhù Xuědòu Xiǎn héshàng sòng gǔ 焭絕老人天奇直註雪竇顯和尚頌古 KR6q0250 — his direct-commentary on the 100 classical sòng gǔ verses of Xuědòu Chóngxiǎn.
Tiānqí’s lineage-position as 26th-generation Línjì-orthodox patriarch places him as one of the late-Ming key intermediate masters whose lineage flowed forward into the late-Ming Yuánwù / Huányǒu Chán revival.
