Lǐ Jiànyuán 李建元, second son of Lǐ Shízhēn 李時珍, fl. late 16th century. After his father’s death (1593) and the printing of the Běncǎo gāngmù KR3ec025 in Nánjīng, Lǐ Jiànyuán presented the work to the imperial court in 1596 (Wànlì 24) with a jìn shū 進書 memorial that reproduces his father’s posthumous yí biǎo 遺表 — the principal first-person autobiographical statement by Lǐ Shízhēn. At the time of presentation Lǐ Jiànyuán held the rank of Húguǎng Húángzhōu fǔ rúxué zēngguǎng shēngyuán 湖廣黃州府儒學增廣生員.
