Lǐ Wúchǎn 李無諂 (DILA Authority A000518; Tang dynasty, lifedates unknown) was a lay translator from the North Indian kingdom of Lampāka (嵐波國 Lánbōguó, identified with the Laghmān region of present-day eastern Afghanistan). According to the Kāiyuán shìjiào lù 開元釋教錄 (T55n2154) and his entry in the Fóguāng dà cídiǎn (p. 2960), he produced a single Chinese translation: the Bùkōng juànsuǒ tuóluóní jīng 不空羂索陀羅尼經 (KR6j0304, T20n1096), executed at the Fóshòujìsì 佛授記寺 (Buddha-Prophecy Monastery) Translation Cloister at the request of the Korean (Silla) monk Míngxiǎo 明曉, completed in the third year of Wǔ Zétiān’s Shènglì 聖曆三年 (700 CE), the gēngzǐ year, in the third month. He is otherwise unattested in standard Buddhist biographical sources, suggesting he was a lay collaborator brought into the imperial translation programme specifically for this single text.
