Yáng Cháoyīng 楊朝英 (fl. Zhìzhèng era, c. 1340–1370s), hào Dànzhāi 澹齋, late-Yuán sǎnqǔ anthologist. The principal Yuán-period editor of sǎnqǔ canon. Earlier compiled the Yángchūn báixuě 陽春白雪 (the well-circulated Yuán sǎnqǔ anthology); subsequently the Cháoyě xīnshēng tàipíng yuèfǔ KR4j0081 — known commonly as Tàipíng yuèfǔ — in 9 juǎn, preface by Dèng Yújìn 鄧于晉 dated Zhìzhèng xīnmǎo / 1351. The preface preserved in the source describes Yáng as Suānzhāi Guàn (Guàn Yúnshí 貫雲石)‘s drinking-companion: “I, said Guàn, am Suān (‘sour’); you ought to be Dàn (‘bland’)” — and so Yáng took the hào Dànzhāi 澹齋. Yáng’s anthologies are the principal source for Yuán sǎnqǔ; without them most Yuán would be lost. CBDB 109625 with no recorded dates.
