Wāng Yuè 汪越

Shītuì 師退. Native of Nánlíng 南陵 (in modern Anhuī, then under Tàipíngfǔ 太平府). Jǔrén of Kāngxī yǐyǒu (1705). Floruit ca. 1700–1720.

A kǎozhèng-school scholar of the early Kāngxī era, principally remembered for the Dú Shǐjì shí biǎo 讀史記十表 (KR2a0005) — the first specialized monograph on the ten chronological tables of Sīmǎ Qiān’s Shǐjì, supplemented during his lifetime by his fellow-villager Xú Kèfàn 徐克范. No other monograph by him is preserved. Cited as a forerunner of the great Qing tables-scholars Liáng Yùshèng 梁玉繩 and Qián Dàxīn 錢大昕.
