Early-Qīng Hángzhōu Cheng-Zhū scholar from Rénhé 仁和 county (Hángzhōu), courtesy name Zhāosì 昭嗣, sobriquet Fùzhāi 復齋. CBDB id 356253 attests his name and dynasty without firm lifedates; he flourished c. 1688–1710. He took the jìnshì in Kāngxī wùchén (1688) and served as Magistrate of Ānhuàxiàn 安化縣. His learning derived from Tāng Bīn 湯斌 (1627–1687), the great early-Qīng Lǐxué synthesizer; Shěn Jiā himself, however, was a strict Cheng-Zhū loyalist and rejected Wáng Yángmíng’s Yáojiāng school. He is principally known for the Míngrú yánxíng lù 明儒言行錄 (KR2g0050; 10-juàn main + 2-juàn Xùlù), a Cheng-Zhū-perspective corrective to Huáng Zōngxī’s Míngrú xuéàn (KR2g0046).
