Fǎrú 法如

Fǎrú 法如 (638–689), Northern-School Chán master, dharma-heir of Hóngrěn. Held the abbacy at Sōngyuè 嵩岳 Shàolín sì 少林寺 from ca. 681 until his death. Presented in Dù Fěi’s Chuán fǎ bǎo jì KR6q0110 as the senior fifth-generation successor (joint with Shénxiù), a position not reflected in the mature Northern-School tradition; effectively displaced in the later Southern-School lineage construction.
