Yóu Jiǔyán 游九言 (1142–1206), originally named Yóu Jiǔsī 游九思, zì Chéngzhī 誠之, hào Mòzhāi 默齋 (“Silence Studio”), native of Jiànyáng 建陽 (modern northern Fújiàn). Began his career as wèi 尉 (police-keeper) of Gǔtián 古田, then as magistrate of Guānghuà 光化 county, and ended as cānmóu guān (staff secretary) at the JīngHúè Xuānwǔ 荊鄂宣武 military headquarters under Hán Tuōzhòu’s 韓侂胄 northern campaign. In the Duānpíng era (1234–6) he was posthumously honoured with zhí Lóngtú gé 直龍圖閣 and the posthumous title Wénjìng 文靖. CBDB places his lifedates 1142–1206; the Sìkù tíyào notes that the Sòng shǐ yìwén zhì 宋史藝文志 does not register his collected works. His surviving Mòzhāi yígǎo 默齋遺稿 KR4d0329 (2 juan) was preserved by the Bào 鮑 family of Zhèjiāng (Zhībùzúzhāi 知不足齋) and rounded out by the Sìkù compilers from extracts in Liú Dàbīn 劉大彬’s Máoshān zhì 茅山志 and various MíngQīng poetry anthologies. His Yì Língmiào yíngxiǎng sòngshén qū xù 義靈廟迎享送神曲序 records, in unusual detail, the story of Téng Yīng 滕膺, a Tāizhōu sīhù who resisted the rebel Fāng Là 方臘 — an important supplement to the standard histories.
