Pān Xīzēng 潘希曾 (1476–1532), zì Zhònglǔ 仲魯, hào Zhújiàn 竹澗, of Jīnhuá 金華 (Zhèjiāng). Hóngzhì 15 / rénxū (1502) jìnshì; rose to Bīngbù zuǒ shìláng; posthumously shàngshū. Míngshǐ. As Bīngkē jǐshìzhōng impeached Wāng Zhí 汪直’s yìnán (adopted-son)‘s undeserved rank; for the eight-affairs memorial on celestial portents he pointed at the favoured-eunuchs; when seconded to inspect HúGuì border-stores; for not bribing Liú Jǐn 劉瑾, was thrown into prison, tortured, and dismissed; on Liú Jǐn’s execution recalled and again opposed the Tàisùdiàn / Tiānéfáng (Wǔzōng’s vast palace-construction projects). Famous as a hydraulic engineer — his Hégōng 河工 (River-Works) memorials on the Pèi / Shàn long-dyke (沛單長堤) construction is what Míngshǐ Héqú zhì depends on. His writings are the Zhújiàn jí in 8 juǎn + Zhújiàn zòuyì in 4 juǎn (KR4e0161) — cut at the end of Jiājìng by Huáng Xǐngzēng 黃省曾 of Chángzhōu. CBDB id 34647, 1476–1532.
