Wáng Hǎogǔ 王好古 (zì Jìnzhī 進之, hào Hǎicáng 海藏, fl. Zhìdà yuánnián = 1308, 元), Yuán-period physician of Zhàozhōu 趙州 (modern Héběi). Senior disciple (高弟) of 李杲 Lǐ Gǎo, in the Spleen-and-Stomach school transmission line: Zhāng Yuánsù → Lǐ Gǎo → Wáng Hǎogǔ → Luó Tiānyì. Founder of the Yīn zhèng doctrine (陰證學派) — emphasizing yīn-deficiency syndromes and their differential diagnosis from yáng-excess syndromes — through his work the Yīn zhèng lüè lì 陰證略例 (KR3e0056, 12 juan, slighty later than the present). The present catalog work is the Cǐshì nánzhī 此事難知 (KR3e0055, 2 juan, dated Zhìdà 1 = 1308) — Wáng’s compilation of Lǐ Gǎo’s previously-untransmitted clinical material, particularly on cold-damage. The original Lǐ Gǎo Shānghán huìyào 傷寒會要 (with Yuán Hàowèn 元好問 preface) was already lost in the Yuán; Wáng’s Cǐshì nánzhī preserves much of Lǐ Gǎo’s Shānghán material indirectly. The catalog meta gives fl. 1297 — corrected to 1308 per the work’s own preface.
