Qīng scholar from Bǎoyīng 寶應 (modern Jiāngsū), courtesy name Yǔzhōng 予中, sobriquet Báitián 白田 (after his Báitián cǎotáng 白田草堂 retreat). CBDB id 35054 attests his lifedates as 1668–1741. He took the jìnshì in Kāngxī wùxū (1718) and was appointed Ānqìngfǔ jiàoshòu 安慶府教授 (Education Officer of Ānqìng prefecture). In Yōngzhèng guǐmǎo (1723) he was specially summoned to serve in the inner court and reassigned as Compiler of the Hànlín Academy 翰林院編修. He is principally remembered as a Qīng Zhūxué loyalist and the author of the standard Qīng Zhūzǐ niánpǔ 朱子年譜 (KR2g0016; Niánpǔ 4 juàn + Kǎoyì 4 juàn + Lùnxué yàoyǔ 2 juàn), prepared in deliberate refutation of the Wáng Yángmíng wǎnnián dìnglùn 晚年定論 thesis. His Báitián cǎotáng cúngǎo 白田草堂存稿 (literary collection) survives separately. The Sìkù editors place his Zhūzǐ niánpǔ at the head of the Qīng-period zhuànjì·míngrén class.
