Wáng Yìzhī 王益之
Mid-Southern-Sòng historian and Hàn-history specialist. Zì Xíngfǔ 行甫. Native of Jīnhuá 金華 (modern Zhèjiāng). Held office as Dàlǐsī sīzhí 大理寺司直 (Justice of the Court of Judicial Review). CBDB id 22239 records fl. 1187. The catalog meta gives no dates.
The Wénxiàn tōng kǎo records that he was thoroughly versed in Hàn-period institutional history; his works comprise the Hànguān zǒng lù 漢官總錄 (a comprehensive register of Hàn officialdom) and the Zhí yuán 職原 (origins of administrative posts) — both lost; and the Xī Hàn nián jì 西漢年紀 (KR2b0028) in 30 juǎn, the only surviving major work, with an originally separate Kǎo yì in 10 juǎn (now distributed in-line, after the Hú Sānxǐng manner) and a separately-published Jiàn lùn (lost). The Xī Hàn nián jì is the principal Sòng-period biānnián chronicle of the Western Hàn — composed not in lieu of but in supplement to Sīmǎ Guāng’s Tōng jiàn, drawing on the ChǔHàn chūnqiū, the Shuō yuàn, and other sources Sīmǎ Guāng had not exploited.
