理宗 Lǐzōng
Fifth emperor of the Southern Sòng (r. 1224–1264), personal name Zhào Yún 趙昀. Imperial patron of Buddhist and Neo-Confucian institutions; conferred honorific titles on several major Buddhist masters, including the title Fóguāng fǎshī 佛光法師 on the Tiāntái master 法照 Huìyán Fǎzhào and imperial calligraphy of the two large characters Huìyán 晦岩. His long reign coincided with the late-Southern-Sòng renaissance of Tiāntái and Chán scholastic productive culture at Hángzhōu.
