Tián Rǔchéng 田汝成, Shūhé 叔禾, of Qiántáng 錢塘 (Hángzhōu). Jìnshì of Jiājìng 5 (bǐngxū, 1526). Long career in the southwestern frontier provinces, rising to Right Participant in the Guǎngxī Provincial Administration Commission (Guǎngxī bùzhèng sī yòu cānyì 廣西布政司右參議). Biography in Míngshǐ wényuàn zhuàn 明史文苑傳, where he is praised for breadth of learning and skill in historical narrative. While serving on the Yòujiāng 右江 he and his colleague Wēng Wàndá 翁萬達 secretly arrested and executed two rebellious chieftains, Zhào Kǎi 趙楷 and Lǐ Huán 李寰, and broke up the bandit confederation around the Húluó Tān 努灘 ringleader Hóu Gōngdīng 侯公丁; he and Wēng then submitted seven “after-affairs” memorials that pacified the region. Author of the southwestern frontier topical history Yánjiǎo jìwén 炎徼紀聞 (KR2c0006) and of the well-known Xīhú yóulǎn zhì 西湖遊覽志 (with its supplement Yúlǎn zhì yú 餘) on Hángzhōu and West Lake. CBDB records him as personid 34900 with no recorded birth or death year; secondary sources tentatively give c. 1503–c. 1557, but no datum confirms either limit. Father of the polymath Tián Yìhéng 田藝蘅.
